shiner

i had surgery this morning. i just had a cyst removed from my eye, but i look like i was beaten severely. as far as i know, i wasn't. but then again, i was completely drugged and asleep during the whole thing, so i guess it's possible. anyway, here's how pretty i look:

the nurses were so nice. and it was so cold in there, that they kept bringing me heated blankets. i decided that heated blankets are my new favorite thing ever. i haven't had surgery since i was 8 (tonsils), but i don't remember them even offering me a single heated blanket back then. is this a new thing? i loved it so much, that by the time i was ready to leave, i had 8 heated blankets on me. the nurse wrapped one around each of my limbs, and then around my back, just to make sure i wasn't going to get cold. i think i want to start heating up my own blankets, maybe in the oven, before i go to bed. i recommend you all do the same. i doubt it's a fire hazard or anything.

also, rebekah was kind enough to pick me up from the hospital, and had to sign me out. The line she had to sign on said "significant other". the last thing rebekah and i need is another implication that we're dating. we're not, i swear.

How did you get to the hospital? Did you take the bus or something?
Teleport, maybe?

Also, I had nothing to do with this black eye. I'm worried that the sight of it will get people talking about my temper, like I'm John McCain or something.

i forgot to mention that lee made the sacrifice of getting up SUPER early to drop me off at the hospital, before he went to class/work for the day. Very selfless. Very appreciated. and he's not even the slightest bit abusive.

last time i had surgery i had no heated blanket and the nurse was just trying to discharge me so she could go to lunch. however, i had no interest in moving. i am still a little mad at that nurse. also, i am annoyed because right before surgery the doctor said ohhh by the way if this goes wrong you might not be able to smile. what i am trying to say is heated blankets might have made this a better experience....

Lee, it is irky to have to remind people of the good things you do. Often, I find myself left off thank you lists too. On the topic of warm hospital blankets - they have been the only things I have enjoyed on my hospital visits.

i'm sorry you've been so sick and now just had surgery. the good news is maybe while you're bored of daytime tv you should give your old friend emily a call. she misses you.

oh, and i'm with ya on the heated blanket thing, i got a few while i was in labor and they almost took the pain away. almost.

Heated blankets are probably the only good thing about hospitals, surgery, etc. I love them. Our kids love them. They rule.

I hope you're feeling better...and I loved the Rebekah-is-your-significant-other story! You could do worse, Lis! Rebekah's pretty hot.

ok, I am not the type of person who normally does this but in my defense I was a little out of it and the sadistic nurse had stabbed me with four (FOUR) different needles trying to get my labor to stop, but I stole that heated blanket. Yes I did, and I still have it and although it is no longer warm, I can still put it in the dryer, or I can use it as a floor covering whenever we have picnics downstairs which is what is is most widely used for. Oh, and when my brother came here to recuperate after his surgery, I used it for him.

Ouch sister. That looks muy painful...but I still would request a before picture of the eye-cyst. I don't even know what an eye-cyst looks like. I guess babies don't get them. *wistful sigh*

Also, are you jealous that, since I work in a hospital, I have free access to warm blankets 12 hours a day?! It's pretty sweet. Except they're baby sized. But they make a lovely neck-warmer. Sort of like a kerchief. But warm and toasty.

i'm glad i'm not alone in my love for heated blankets. how come i'm just barely discovering these?

i really should put a before picture. unfortunately, it wasn't as gross as it sounds, so it was hardly noticeable. i'll try to find a picture where you can see it, and i'll post it. because i'm sure erin isn't the only one who wants to see my eye cyst.

darn right she isn't. i want to see your eye cyst for sho.
do you feel like everyone has been keeping a secret from you about the heated blankets? almost every comment has talked about how heated blankets are the best things ever. yet no one has ever mentioned them to you. and you call these people your friends. furthermore, i would like to add that I also love heated blankets. got them when i had my babies. they were the best thing about having babies if you ask me. anywho, get well soon!

OUCH! Hope you are feeling better. Glad you got rid of that cyst, although, I will miss seeing "Little Herman," when I look at you. Rest in peace Little Herman, rest in peace.
